Frasier's Dad

As I was trying to locate other late bloomers I found John Mahoney. He was born in England and moved to IL when his sister, a war-bride, sponsored him to move to America. In 1959 he joined the army to expedite his citizenship. He moved to Macomb where he taught English and then moved to Oak Park. Around this time, in his early 30s, is when he actually took up acting. He started taking classes at St. Nicholas theatre. In 1977 John Malkovich convinced him to join Steppenwolf. In 1982 he made his first TV appearance and in 1985 his first film appearance. I love finding these individuals who discover their callings later in life. I will keep digging for more.
